One tenant of cohesive community is a list of shared agreements and guidelines. We have begun this list and are committed to its evolution with the input of fellow community members. Do you have something to add? Consider sending us a message on the Contact Us page.
As a Patch in this Work of Community Care, I agree, to the best of my abilities, to:
- Trust and honor each person’s truth, lived experience, and identity even when it does not line up with my own.
- Honor my commitments to myself and others.
- Listen for understanding.
- Offer generosity, care, and resources when possible.
- Respect and honor my needs and capacity, and respect and honor the capacity and needs of others, understanding that needs and capacity often change moment to moment.
- Apologize and commit to a process of repair when I have caused harm to another.
- Respect the boundaries of others, just as I expect my boundaries to be respected.
- Extend grace and understanding to others, just as I expect grace and understanding to be extended to me.
- Be honest, and stand in my truth.
- Be open to changing my mind and perspective.
- Tend to my own needs.
- Ask for help and support.
- Speak out against injustice.
- Commit to creative problem solving.
- Stay curious.
“Are you actively practicing generosity and vulnerability in order to make the connections between you and others clear, open, available, durable? Generosity here means giving of what you have without strings or expectations attached. Vulnerability means showing your needs.”
