About Wren George

Hi there! I’m Wren George, DMS, PA-C, AAHIVS. I’m so glad you’re here. I’d love to take a moment to tell you a bit about me. Thanks for hanging around.

I am a white, neurodivergent, queer, non-binary physician assistant, residing on unceded Cherokee land in western North Carolina. I grew up in the midwest, which in many ways shapes who I am today. I was raised Catholic, and while I’m not a religious person, I do believe the roots of my justice and liberation work come in part from Dorothy Day and The Catholic Worker Movement (read more here) and continue to be informed by my transcestors.

Before becoming a physician assistant, and before learning of my neurodivergence, I was so many things: a dancer, an educator, a builder, a nurse assistant, and so much more. I know this varied list of experiences helps me to provide great care for my patients because I am a human first and foremost.

I received my master’s degree from Wingate University in Hendersonville, NC, where I graduated in 2023. I then went on to complete my doctorate in medical science at Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. I am a World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) trained provider, and I am also a certified HIV specialist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM).

In clinical practice, I work to show up authentically and meet my patients where they are. I am committed to curiosity, care, trust, playfulness and honesty. It is my hope that Patchwork becomes much more than a space for primary care and evolves into a community network of support in many different forms.

In my free time, I hang out with my dog Turtle and my three cats, play the clawhammer banjo, read, dive deep into niche medical topics, spend time in community, write, and pick up various short-lived hobbies. I love calling the mountains of WNC home, and I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
